Libris Hires Travel Industry Leader David West, Invests In Helping Travel Brands Get More from Photos & Videos Through Visual Storytelling

New York, NY -- April 21, 2016 - Libris by PhotoShelter, a simple and powerful digital asset management platform for visual content, today announced the hire of award-winning travel industry veteran David West.

West joins the Libris sales team as Director of Travel Solutions. He brings experience as a professor in marketing and hospitality at Temple University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management and Drexel University School of Business, as well as a background in destination marketing. West led marketing efforts for Bucks County Conference and Visitor Bureau and Pocono Mountains Visitor Bureau, and served as Vice President of Travel for Michigan Economic Development Corporation, where he oversaw the organization’s well-known Pure Michigan tourism campaign. In 2011, he was named one of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International’s Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing.

West will use his background and passion for visual storytelling to help brands in the travel industry strengthen their visual media libraries. He says digital asset management will help destinations, hotels and attractions ensure their viability in the marketplace.

“The future of the industry is going to be about digital storytelling,” said West. “If you look at third parties, such as Expedia, TripAdvisor, Yelp - people can get a list anywhere, they can get an address anywhere. What they can’t get is the story behind your hotel, the story behind your destination, the story behind your amusement park. Libris helps you build a platform to tell your story.”

Travel brands like Destination D.C., the National Aquarium and Carnival Cruise Line use Libris to organize their visual assets on a cloud-based platform, share photos and videos with internal and external stakeholders and getting results from maximizing their visual media libraries. West’s hire is part of a broader push to help travel brands use digital asset management to power their visual storytelling.

“Savvy travel brands who want share their stories rely on massive amounts of photo and video,” said Andrew Fingerman, CEO of PhotoShelter. “Dozens of travel brands are using Libris today to centralize, organize and share their photos and videos, and we want to build on that momentum. Bringing David onto the team, with his extensive destination marketing expertise, is another exciting step forward as we establish Libris as the go-to resource for travel brands that want to get more out of their visual assets.”
